NYC Wedding Venues

Congratulations, your partner just proposed to you, and you're engaged to be married! What an exciting time as love is in bloom, and a new family tree has been planted. Although it's not quite as simple as saying the “I Do's”, as long as you are organized and thorough in your planning there is little reason for your wedding to not to be a success! One of the first things you will want to do in your engagement is select a venue to hold your wedding. Generally, you would like to have your venue booked at least twelve months ahead of your wedding. Do not expect the venue of your dreams to be available three months before the date, because most are booked for dates well ahead of time. How do you identify the venue that is right for you? That's a good question, and fortunately for anyone searching for event space, New York City is abundant in beautiful venues. It will certainly take an ample amount of research, and plenty of legwork to help get a true feel for what sort of venue you need. Here are some tips that should assist your search.

What sort of style are you trying to employ for your wedding? Will you be holding the wedding ceremony itself in a grand cathedral? If so, you will want to book a venue that matches that atmosphere. Try to envision your wedding, and book your reception venue to suit it. If you are holding the commencement at a different location, you do not want to have a discrepancy of quality between the two venues. Once you are settled on a style, it will help make your search for a venue that much easier. It is usually wise to start with the recommendations of your friends and family members, and search any online directories for wedding venues. The wedding does not have to service weddings primarily, but venues that do are usually able to handle special accommodations and typical wedding demands, not to mention they will most assuredly have full handicap access. Remember, it is your responsibility to make every guest feel comfortable, and ensure they have a wonderful time as they are there to support you on your big day.

During the initial stages of your search, you should have a rough estimate of how many guests that you will be inviting. This will help determine the size of the venue you will need to book. During your search, browse through the pictures of venues that interest you, and keep in mind the season in which is present in the picture and the time you visit it in relation to the date of your wedding. Your wedding may be planned for next autumn, for instance, but it might be the dead of winter at the time of your visit. Some of us are not gifted with a vibrant imagination, and thus, we cannot picture what those red, gold, and orange leaves will look like in the trees surrounding the reception hall in the midst of the beautiful New York fall. If that sort of thing is not important to you, then it's not worth taking the extra time in being thorough and scouring the internet for venues in various seasons. Another crucial detail to take note of is, if in the scenario you are having an outdoor wedding, whether or not the venue has emergency facilities, or in other words, an indoor backup where the wedding can continue safely. If the venues you are interested in service weddings, they will most likely have backup facilities, and any basic necessities such as bathrooms, heating and cooling, and of course, parking spaces!

Now that you have a handful of venues in mind, start calling them for in person interviews. You may correspond with an event coordinator or a supervisor of some sort. This person is important, and you will want to have their personal contact information on hand for the planning process. The coordinator will take you on a walk through of the location. On this walk through, discuss some of your ideas and dreams for your wedding, if they are good at what they do, the coordinator should be able to make suggestions, and should be able to determine if the venue can suit your needs. Inquire what some of the strengths and weaknesses of the venue, and how those attributes could effect your wedding. If they want your business, they will be open and honest, and be able to provide solutions. If a coordinator does not seem cooperative, or seems stiff in any regard, it would be wise to consider a different candidate unless you are absolutely dead set on the location. It's important to consider that you will be dealing with this person for a good length of time before the day of your wedding, no one wants to deal with an unsavory individual for very long.

Inquire with the coordinator if the venue has a preferred vendor list. Some venues will require you to use specific vendors, as some venues and vendors simply do not get along for various reasons. If there is such a list, ask for it in the first interview. It will ultimately help determine if you wish to continue considering the venue as a candidate. If it is a highly acclaimed venue with many years of service under their belt, it may be worth it to trust their judgment. Ask the coordinator if the venue handles its own in-house rentals, or if they have a preferred rental service that you can call. Once these logistics are out of the way, you can discuss cost. You will want to discuss any packages they offer, and request a sample invoice to see exactly what they charge and how they charge you. Once you've made your decision after going over cost with the venues, make sure you get everything into a written contract, and have both parties sign. Most venues require you to put a deposit down during the contract signing. After all those details are handled, you can move onto planning the rest of your wedding with the peace of mind that you will have your wedding at the best venue out there!
